Movies, Arts and Books!
Have a kiddie movie marathon while your child is sick at home. This alleviates any boredom or anxiety your child may feel while cooped up in the bedroom. You might also want to try your hand at scrap booking or bedtime storytelling, which should prove relaxing and help you form deeper bonds at the same time.
Popsicles!
The FDA recently banned on over-the-counter cold medications to children 2 years and younger. A good alternative solution is to give your child fruity frozen treats that will help flush out the germs and prevent dehydration. However, if your child needs to see a doctor, skip grape flavored popsicles to avoid a wrong diagnosis, given that purple-stained lips are typically associated with oxygen saturation.
Food!
Though it is natural for kids to dislike food while they are sick, see to it that your child gets all the nourishment he needs to get well. Make a simple yet yummy soup or stew that's easy to swallow and provides loads of comforting warmth. In case anything is amiss, you'll need to contact your child's pediatrician right away.
